Pile on the Miles 2012

It's that time of year again!  Halloween is in eight days and before we know it, we'll be sitting down to a table full of turkey and all the trimmings.  With all the parties and extra treats this time of year, it's easy to get off track with your fitness and healthy eating routine.  When I first started running (exercising regularly, for that matter), it was right before the holiday season.  I managed to lose weight during that time and it's because I made a huge effort to exercise because I wanted to be able to enjoy myself and not worry about every calorie consumed.

This afternoon I was reading one of my favorite blogs, and Monica had posted about a running/walking challenge called Pile on the Miles.  This past summer, I completed the Runner's World running challenge where I had to run a minimum of one mile per day for 38 days.  It was a great way to make sure I got moving every day.  I was excited to read Monica's post because I need this motivation to keep on track with my exercise!  I like that we can either walk or run to log the miles and don't have to exercise every day.  You set a goal at the beginning and aim to meet or exceed those miles.  There is a prize awarded to the participant who logs the most miles, but all participants are eligible to win one of two gifts!  Very exciting!

If you'd like to read all the details about the challenge, head over to RunEatRepeat to get the details.  Let me know if you decide to take on the challenge of Pile on the Miles 2012!
