One day into my weekly workouts and I already went off track... But in a good way! Yesterday was sunny and 70 degrees so I decided to switch my gym workout for an outdoor one! My legs were a bit sore from Sunday's workout so I thought a walk in Millennium Park would be a nice change of pace. The park has lots of hills, so even though I wasn't planning a high impact workout, I still broke a sweat.
The park was booming with people - Runners, rollerbladers and lots of moms pushing strollers. The park is also a great place to bring your dog and there were so many cute pups out yesterday! The Charles River runs along the park and there is a launching area for canoes and kayaks. With three miles of paved paths, this park is a great place for a run or walk and since it's one of the highest elevations in Boston, the wind keeps you nice and cool on hot days.
I started my walk by heading down the path that runs right along the river. I kept an eye out for wildlife, but only found some ducks.
I looped up and around and finally made it to the top of the park where you have a great view the city. This park is one of my favorite places in Boston - It's very peaceful and the views are awesome. I ended up covering just over three miles at a very leisurely pace.
Although I only walked three miles, I worked up quite an appetite. Since it was still warm and sunny when I got home, I decided I would grill dinner. I put a bottle of wine in the fridge and prepped my veggies for the grill. I already had the flank steak marinating, so all I had to do was get the potatoes, onions and asparagus ready to cook. It was the perfect ending to a great day. I love this time of year!
I'm headed out now to run some errands then hit up the gym. It's warm again today, but is raining off and on, so I'll take my workout inside today. Have a good day!Labels: exercise, grilling, park
