I Actually Did It!

How's everyone's Wednesday?  Today's weather has been all over the place.  It's cool (upper 40s) and overcast but we had some random sun showers.  You know the kind where it's raining on one side of the street and the other side is completely sunny?  That's what it has been like today!

I woke up a little later than I wanted this morning, so I had to take my breakfast on the go.  Before heading to the gym, I had to drop my flat tire off at the auto body shop to get it repaired.  For breakfast, I whipped up a smoothie with coconut milk, banana, frozen mango, a few ice cubes, and a scoop of unflavored protein powder.  It was a super thick and icy smoothie!  I also ate half a chocolate dipped coconut Luna bar.

After I dropped off the tire, I headed to the gym.  That's where I actually did it!  I stuck to my planned workout for the day.  Amazing, right?  I started off with 30 minutes on the elliptical.  I wish I could run as fast as I can go on the elliptical - I covered 3.5 miles in 31:27.  That may not be fast for some, but that would be fast for me!

After the elliptical, I did some upper body weight training.  I focused on my biceps, triceps, chest and shoulders.  It felt good to lift things up and put them down and I am looking forward to my next weight session!  I still had some gas in the tank, so I decided to walk/run on the treadmill for 15 minutes.

I covered about 1.3 miles by running for .1 of a mile and walking for .05 of a mile.  Toward the end of the workout, I increased my speed to 7.6 MPH for the last .2 of a mile.  It was super fast for me and I don't know how people can keep that speed up for longer than .2 of a mile!  That last stretch did me in for the day and I finished a sweaty mess!

After my workout, I finished the other half of my Luna bar and hopped in the shower.  I was ready for lunch so I decided to have some corn dogs.  Well, soy corn dogs from Trader Joe's.  Have you had them?  They are really good and I always have to have them dipped in yellow mustard.  Classy, huh?  Because 20 minutes is too long to wait I was really hungry, I decided to make a salad to eat while the corn dogs cooked.  I threw together a random salad using spinach as the base.  I topped it with leftover Brussels sprouts, strawberries and a sprinkling of shredded parmesan.  I whipped up a dressing using some homemade strawberry jam, white balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, canola oil, salt, and pepper.  It was so good and made the 20 minutes fly!  Before I knew it, my dogs were ready!

After lunch, I had a really yummy and juicy orange.  I was craving something sweet and the orange did the trick!  I have leftovers for dinner tonight - Spinach, chicken and pasta bake.  Pretty boring, but it is a good way to make sure I'm having veggies without having to cook a side dish!

I'm off to watch an episode of Friends I've seen 100 times.  What are you up to tonight?
