I guess the title of this post gives away my location. My friend Alison and I are in Disney to run the Disney World 1/2 Marathon this Saturday! We arrived in Orlando last night and it was very chilly - Only in the 30s (I sound like a wimpy New Englander, huh?)! I had to wear my down coat when we went out for dinner. Yikes! Luckily, today is much warmer.
We're staying in the park at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa - This is the beautiful view from our room.
We had a busy day ahead of us, so after breakfast and some much needed coffee, Alison and I headed to ESPN's Wide World of Sports for the Health & Fitness Expo. I don't know about you, but I get excited when I go to an expo. I love sampling new products, buying race gear and maybe even taking advantage of discounted race registration fees.

Alison at the expo! |
We arrived at the expo about an hour after it started. It wasn't too crowded except for the event merchandise area which was located in the same area as the race packet pickup. Unfortunately, after waiting in line for nearly an hour to purchase some gear, we found out that the same gear was being sold in the other building where we went to pick up our race tees. Grrrr... Oh well! Alison and I picked up our tees - See how nice they are? I love me a long sleeve sweat-wicking shirt!
After roaming around the expo for about an hour, we headed back to the hotel for a short run. The weather had warmed up to the upper 60s and it felt good to get in a run. After our run, we grabbed a bite to eat then headed back to our room to get ready to go to MGM (Hollywood Studios) for our first day in the parks!
I'd been to Disney a few times before this trip but I'd never visited MGM. We wanted to be sure to go since their ight display is still up for a few more days and Alison wanted to be sure I saw them. I'm glad we did because it was so much fun to see the lights dance to Christmas music!
While at MGM we also went on the Tower of Terror - Twice! The first time with my eyes closed the entire time! I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to rides and I am working up my courage to go on the Aerosmith roller coaster before we leave. I wouldn't bet on it, kids...
After our adventures at the expo and MGM, we headed to dinner at the Polynesian Resort. Alison and I dined on some amazing sweet bread with honey macadamia butter. Holy yum! We also had some sushi and both ordered the strip steak. We made sure to save room for dessert - Dole Whip! You can only get this pineapple delight in Disney World, Disneyland and at the Dole factory in Hawaii. Alison got me hooked and I find myself craving it when I'm not in Disney. Nuts, I know! Tonight will be the first of at least two Dole Whip treats!
I'm off to bed now. I have a busy day tomorrow at Animal Kingdom! Have a good night and I'll keep you posted on my adventures in Disney!Labels: Disney, races
