Training Run Attempt #2

Since yesterday's training run was cut short due to shin and knee pain, I decided to try again today.  I headed out a little later than I'd hoped and it was unseasonably warm (80° in October!).  I started out slowly - About a minute per mile slower than my usual pace.  I wanted to take it easy so as not to irritate my injury.  I felt pretty good until around 3/4 of a mile.  I stopped to stretch my legs and continued running for another 1/4 of a mile.  I decided to walk for a bit then ran another mile nonstop.  I ended up only running two miles total (10 shy of the distance I had planned on running!) because I did have some pain, but not nearly like I did yesterday.  On a positive note, I did have negative splits!  Small victory!!!  Although I didn't get in the long training run I'd hoped, I did get out there for a run which is better than nothing at all.  I spent the rest of the afternoon stretching and icing while watching the Pats-Jets game.  I hope my legs hold up for the Tufts 10K I am running tomorrow! Stay tuned for the race recap.
